After passing away earlier this week at 95-years-old, Marvel legend Stan Lee has been buried in a private ceremony according to his wishes.

POW! Entertainment revealed this via a statement on Lee’s Twitter account. They also talked about an online tribute wall on therealstanlee.com where fans can share thoughts, prayers and messages of support for his family. Additionally, POW announced they would share messages from “fellow creators, artists, and colleagues” across Lee’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts in the near future:

Earlier this year, Stan Lee sued POW! Entertainment for $1 billion. He sued on the basis that his partners, POW! CEO Shane Duffy and Co-Founder Gill Champion either tricked him into signing over exclusive rights to his name or likeness or outright forged his signature completely.

In the lawsuit, Lee called the ‘Stan Lee’ name “the most important and prized possession Lee and his family owned his entire life.”

The lawsuit was eventually dropped and social media accounts continued to be operated by POW! Entertainment (a company Stan Lee founded in 2001).

Stan Lee continued to post videos on his social media accounts, answering fan questions and making occasional statements, such as rebutting false claims aimed against him.

One particularly heartfelt video was posted shortly after the Marvel legend’s death. POW! Entertainment posted a tweet on Twitter with a video of Stan Lee talking about his fans. It appeared to be both spontaneous and heartfelt, with Lee praising the connection he had fans all over the world.

So many wonderful moments with Stan came spontaneously. As we were setting up the camera one day, he casually started talking about his fans. We know how much Stan meant to you, and we thought it would be nice for you to hear how much your support meant to him. pic.twitter.com/WTX8U1afLm

Stan Lee was a creative force to be reckoned with, operating from the 1940s to the 2010s. He became Marvel’s creative leader for two decades, turning a small business and publishing house into a multimedia corporation. Through his mind, Lee helped bring to life such iconic heroes such as Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk and the X-Men.
