Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell is going to host the upcoming Ripley’s Believe It or Not! TV revival for the Travel Channel.

The 60-year-old actor was announced for the role in a post on the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Twitter page. The post enthusiastically reads, “It’s official! @GroovyBruce will be the host of the all-new Ripley’s Believe It or Not! show coming to @travelchannel in 2019!”

The trailer itself shows off the bizarre nature of the show that will feature Bruce Campbell. Since its humble beginnings as a comic strip by Robert Ripley, Believe It or Not has always shown off the oddities of the world with great humor. The new show appears to be no exception, featuring a wiseguy drilling into his nasal cavity and a man putting his tongue in a mousetrap (and apparently perfectly fine with it). That’s not even mentioning the jet-ski rider using a ramp to jump over flames.

Given that we are all exposed to weirdness daily, it’ll be interesting to see how Ripley’s Believe It or Not! fares. After all, YouTube is basically the vortex of worldly oddities captured on camera. Then again, those videos don’t have the charisma and charm of Bruce Campbell to add value to proceedings.

Bruce Campbell is no stranger to the weird and wonderful world of nerdy pop culture. He famously starred in the 1981 supernatural horror film, The Evil Dead, directed by Sam Raimi. The film was lauded not just for its horror and gore, but also its use of black comedy. The film spawned two sequels, creating an oft-considered cult trilogy. A spin-off show, Ash vs. Evil Dead, was also created and ran for three seasons.

Superhero fans may also recognize Bruce Campbell from Raimi’s Spider-Man movies. A close friend of Raimi’s, the actor camoed in all three films, playing comedic roles. He also voiced the narrator in the video games based on said films.
