Rad Rodgers was a game that completely slipped under my radar. In fact, I hadn’t even heard of the game at all until this landed on my desk today. For those like myself or those that never got round to trying the game, there will be a second bite of the cherry later this month when Rad Rodgers: Radical Edition releases on the Nintendo Switch.

Recently, I’ve been finding the Switch very handy at bringing me games I’ve either missed, never bothered to play or have wanted to replay. Just these last couple of weeks alone I’ve completed my very first Zelda game and played many an hour on Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze and New Super Mario Bros. U.

Rad Rodgers: Radical Edition releases on February 26th and my very informative brain (read press release) tells me that the game brings back classic 90’s co-op gameplay. So far, so good and all on board, thanks brain.

Rad Rodgers

Developed by Slipgate Studios, Rad Rodgers will see players run and gun through a collection of platforming levels that have been inspired by the ’90s. Rad will be joined by several other characters (hello co-op) on his quest. Take a look at the trailer and hail to the king.

That’s right, one of the playable characters in none other than Duke Nukem. A name that will surely get everyone excited after his last excellent game outing. Right? Right!? Maybe not, but it’ll be fun playing as Duke.

We’ll have more to say about the game once we get hands-on with it. For now, it looks like it could be a fun little title to reminisce over the glory days of gaming, even if it does look like relying on nostalgia a little too much. The co-op element will be fun, the sound effects seem good and I’ll always be a fan of platforming. There’s a story tacked on that’ll feature plenty of blue humor, which isn’t something I’m particularly excited for, but what did I expect with a game featuring Duke.

Come join us after release and we’ll tell you all about it and give it that all-important Nerd Stash score.
