New Digital-Only Xbox One S Hits Stores Next Month

All the cool kids are announcing things this week. Not to be outdone by all the PS5 news from Sony, Microsoft revealed a disc-less Xbox One S that will release in May 2019.

This announcement came during the most recent episode of Inside Xbox yesterday. The console will cost $250 and come with a 1tb internal hard drive.

This new model is going to include three games: Minecraft, Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 3. If you’re the type that plays a lot of games, there might be a problem with space later on. Luckily, you can expand the internal hard drive to 2TB or get a bigger external one anywhere.

Microsoft says they intend to keep this model cheaper than the current Xbox One S.

“We expect to maintain at least a $50 difference between Xbox One S and the all-digital version during sales,” said Microsoft’s Lawrence Hryb.

Presently, pre-orders list the disc-less model as the same price as the Xbox One S bundle that comes with The Division 2. It is also more expensive than the $207 non-bundled version. Math can be tricky, but that doesn’t seem like it’s cheaper folks.

Microsoft has Xbox Game Pass, which gives users access to more than 100 games with a subscription. For those looking to chuck their discs out the window, this console could be that chance to do so. Purchasers will receive a discount of $1 for three months of the service.

Along with xCloud, an upcoming game streaming service, Microsoft is on their way to make sure gamers never have to leave their house again. The sun has been overrated for way too long.

There’s been speculation that both iterations of Microsoft and Sony’s next-gen consoles would be disc-less. Microsoft looks to be bringing the future to the present by releasing this version of the Xbox One S. For now, there is no word yet if their actual next console will feature the same.
