Alec Baldwin isn’t letting his murder trial get in the way of his family’s peace as he gears up for a new reality TV show on TLC. Married for twelve years, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have made headlines for a handful of reasons. Aside from their 26-year age gap which put their relationship under the microscope early on, the two have also raised eyebrows with their adorable brood of seven and even Hilaria’s ever-changing accent. With lots of facets to explore in their familial lives, a family reality exposé wouldn’t have been a bad idea, except for one specific detail — the murder trial.
On Tuesday, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin took to social media to announce their upcoming TLC TV show, The Baldwins. The duo made their big reveal in a video, which began with them sitting side by side on a couch introducing themselves. Hilaria then revealed, “We have an announcement to make.” Reacting to Alec’s shocked expression, the mom of seven quickly clarified that it was not a pregnancy announcement as they were “done having kids.” On cue, Alec Baldwin then introduced the reality show, saying,
“We’re inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good, the bad, the wild and the crazy. Home is the place we love to be the most.”
The clip also featured intermittent displays of Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s kids running around the house, playing and screaming, adorably interrupting their parents. As they rounded up the show announcement, the couple tried to have the kids pose around them on the couch for a family photo. However, even their attempt to have the children scream “We are the Baldwins” alongside them became another moment of adorable chaos.
Netizens React to Alec Baldwin’s TLC Reality Show
Although the kids’ cute display impressed most fans, others reacted to the show’s announcement with bashful comments. According to most, having their seven kids, all under age 10, star in a reality TV show was a lowly move from Alec and Hilaria Baldwin. Many cited other reality show families, pointing out how the kids’ lives or mental health often get hampered after early exposure to fame. Condemning the move from the Baldwins, one commenter fired,
“For people who claim to hate paparazzi, this is really bizarre.”
Another chimed in,
“I’d like to honestly say I’m happy for you and your family, but I really can’t be. Children need privacy as they grow up. Your children have no say in the intrusion of cameras in their young lives. Give them a normal, unfettered childhood. No cameras, no TV series. Think twice and then think again…and again.”
A third added,
“What a mistake. Why not let your kids live a “normal” life? What kid has not been harmed being part of a reality show? 🙅♀️. The New York Post will have a field day.”
A fourth wrote,
“After the reality show, poor kids gonna be targeted even more. Let kids be kids. And the timing is a bit odd just before his court case😏😏.”
Meanwhile, several fans slammed the Rust actor and producer Alec Balwin for opting to do the family TV show despite having a pending murder trial. According to them, the move from the actor was a direct mockery of the deceased, Halyna Hutchins’ family. One netizen wrote,
“What an affront to the family of the mother/wife/daughter who was tragically killed.”
Another wrote,
“Beautiful family but….what about the woman who got shot?”
A third fired,
“No Thank you. You should be in jail. Not on TV!”
Another commenter wrote,
“A fake Spaniardina and a manslaughter committer. Recipe for hijinks and hilarity.”
A fifth disgruntled fan pointed out,
“They charge Trump with bogus felonies yet this guy gets away with manslaughter and a new TV show.”
Notably, the TLC reality TV show announcement comes just a month before Alec Baldwin appears in a court trial in connection with the accidental murder of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The shooting, which took place on the movie set in 2021 also left director Joel Souza injured. Although previously dismissed, Judge Mary Sommer upheld the Rust Shooting charge in May 2024, following the conviction of armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.
