The forest is alive, and it is teeming with deadly Cannibals and Mutants that prey on anyone unlucky enough to enter their territories. Thus to survive the many nights of Sons of the Forest you need to gear up and find the best armor you can get. In total, you can craft six different types of armor from various materials. Obviously though, each has their own strengths and weaknesses and all are not made equal.

6. Hide Armor
Your basic armor type in Sons of the Forest, which gives a small bonus to Protection as well as Stealth and Warmth. We ranked this one as the worst armor in the game because it breaks easily and hunting down the material can be a chore. You have to skin Deer or Moose to be able to get Hide x2 then look for Cloth x1 to craft this armor.

5. Leaf Armor, The Best One For Stealth Expert in Sons of the Forest
Leaf Armor is the weakest of all armor types, but it completely excels in stealth and crafting ingredients. While wearing it you’ll get a buff on Stealth that’s indicated by the changing Eye icon, making enemies harder to detect you. The materials are pretty easy to find as you only need Cloth x1 and Leaves x10.
If you are good at sneaking around enemies, Leaf Armor could offer more benefits than even Bone Armor. As you won’t rely on the armor to soak up damage and eventually break. Instead, you wear it to avoid detection all the time.

4. Golden Armor, The Best Demon Armor in Sons of the Forest
For general usage, Golden Armor is actually quite worthless as it doesn’t give protection against common Cannibals. But, you will need it if you want to get the ending and spelunking deep into danger. Because this creepy knight armor will significantly reduce damage from Demons, by around 70%. Best of all, this Sons of the Forest armor cannot break!

3. Bone Armor
This is the best armor you can use in Sons of the Forest before you can get your hands on the last two on this list. Bone Armor is especially effective if you want to go into caves or underground and face many Mutants. However, do note that it doesn’t offer a Warmth or Stealth bonus. You need Duct Tape x1, Rope x1, and Bones x4 to craft this piece of equipment.

Stats-wise, Tech Armor is obviously the best defensive gear in Sons of the Forest. You can tank hits from giant Mutants before it finally breaks. Nevertheless, this huge defensive power comes with a great cost as you need to scavenge various hard-to-find items. Battery x1, Circuit Board x1, Duct Tape x1, Tech Mesh x1, and Wire x1 are all needed to craft the Tech Armor.

1. Creepy Armor, The Best Over-all Armor in Sons of the Forest
The second best armor you can get your hands on in Sons of the Forest, at least if we talk numbers. But Creepy Armor is very efficient to make since you don’t need any materials to make one. All you need to do is defeat any Cannibals or Mutants you find then chop them up as wearables. Sounds gross, and well, creepy, but it’s much better than becoming an easy prey of spooky monsters.
