Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you encounter familiar faces, so if you can recruit the likes of Jaheira in BG3, you’ll need the best build for the Druid. Although the game is full of new characters, Jaheira is one of the few from the first two games and expansion to appear. The half-elf is as headstrong as ever. Her initial encounter with the BG3 protagonist is not friendly. However, like other characters, you can eventually recruit her to your side with the right choices. Once you have the Druid, it’s time to work on her build.
Jaheira Druid Build in BG3
(Updated on October 4, 2024 – updated links and format)
In Baldur’s Gate 3, Druids share a deep relationship with nature and animals. Jaheira seems to toe the line between Druid and Fighter in the previous games. However, our favorite straightforward build for Jaheira in BG3 doesn’t involve multiclassing. It’s a fun feature, but we will stick with the subclasses that come with the Druid, as it’s simple for beginners yet effective for everyone. The build does allow Jaheira to remain versatile.
Now, Jaheira can be a strong Moon Druid. By Level 2, you’ll select the Circle of the Moon subclass to begin that progression. It’s true that if you have Halsin in your party, Jaheira can become repetitive in BG3. So, the build works best if she’s the only one in the party with these skills. Plus, there’s always a chance that you simply won’t have Halsin for any particular reason.
Before we dive into the Moon Druid build, let’s check out the starting stats for Jaheira in BG3:
- Stats
- STR: 10
- DEX: 14
- CON: 14
- INT: 8
- WIS: 17
- CHA: 12
Now that we know what we’re starting with concerning her attributes, we can move on to features exclusive to the Moon Druid. Remember that all Druids can shapeshift into animals. However, Moon Druid offers a few more creatures.
Moon Druid Build
Circle of the Moon goes through some interesting developments. It’s the subclass for shapeshifters and offers some solid melee damage and protection. Let’s go through the Moon-specific Levels for our Jaheira build in BG3:
- Level 2:
- Combat Wild Shape: Change to a beast as a bonus action.
- Lunar Mend: Use spell slots to gain HP while in Wild Shape.
- Wild Shape: Bear: Change into a Polar Bear and taunt enemies.
- Level 4: Wild Shape: Dire Raven: Change into a Dire Raven that Blinds enemies and avoids attention.
- Level 6: Primal Strike: Attacks are magical while in beast form.
- Level 8: Wild Shape: Saber-Toothed Tiger: Turn into a Saber-Toothed Tiger to regen HP and Shred Armor.
- Level 10: You’ll unlock all the elemental Wild Shapes. They include the following:
- Air Myrmidon
- Earth Myrmidon
- Fire Myrmidon
- Water Myrmidon
Along the standard Druid path, Jaheira will gain these Wild Shape abilities:
- Deep Rothe (Level 4)
- Panther (Level 6)
- Owlbear (Level 6)
- Dilophosaurus (Level 10)
The best way to utilize a Moon Druid build with Jaheira in BG3 is to plan when to use specific Wild Shapes. Panther can turn invisible, so you can use the form to escape a hard battle or quietly reposition. Dire Raven can grant Jaheira the higher ground.
On the other hand, the Owlbear and Polar Bear can take as much damage as they dish out. Those forms can keep Jaheira safe when needed while also aiding the battle to whittle down opponents.
Spells and Cantrips for Moon Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3
Like other magic-centered classes, the Moon Druid relies on spells and cantrips. They’re helpful when she can’t Wild Shape much at the start or if you’re waiting for the more powerful Shapes. So, for Jaheira in BG3, we recommend these cantrips for a good build:
- Shillelagh
- Thorn Whip
- Guidance
For general spells, the ones below are more than useful to attack and defend against enemies as well as help your allies:
- Cure Wounds
- Entangle
- Healing Word
- Thunderwave
- Enhance Ability
- Flaming Sphere
- Call of Lightning
- Sleet Storm
- Conjure Woodland Beings
- Ice Storm
- Wind Walk
Best Feats for Jaheira in BG3
To complete our Jaheira Moon Druid build in Baldur’s Gate 3, let’s focus on Feats. These extra capabilities can help Jaheira’s overall skills in battle. As a Druid, she gets three chances for Feats:
- Level 4 Feat:Use Ability Improvement and focus on raising her Wisdom stat.
- Level 8 Feat: Another Ability Improvement works here as we want Jaheira’s stats as high as possible. Maxing out Wisdom can pay off in the end.
- Level 12 Feat: Here is where you have more freedom. You can invest in any of the Magical Initiate Feats to get more cantrips or spells. Mobile is also a good Feat, as it can better help Jaheira navigate the battlefield.
