If you’re already in the third chapter of Baldur’s Gate 3, you might’ve noticed that quests start pouring from all sides. You might even be lucky to finish many quests that began during the first chapter. Yet, for those looking for new adventures in this city, a few will lead you to some of the most hidden and well-guarded places in Baldur’s Gate. When exploring the southmost part of the city, you might pick up the ‘Defeat the Mystic Carrion’ quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you’re stuck with it or want to learn how to finish it quickly, this guide’s for you!
How To Find the Mystic Carrion in Baldur’s Gate 3
Finding the Mystic Carrion will take a while and require you to follow a quest from the first chapter. To make things easier, here’s what you have to do:
- Head to Lady Jannath’s Estate.
- Climb the attic and enter the Atelier by placing Oskar’s painting on the easel.
- Read the letters inside the secret room to learn the location of the Mystic Carrion and the password to this place.
- Head to Phylgrave’s Mansion and enter it by telling the password.
- Pick the quest from the Mystic Carrion that’ll send you to find Thrumbo.
- Go to the docks and head to the eastmost house.
- Open the closet to find Thrumbo.
- If you want to finish the quest fast, kill Thrumbo and smash the jar he drops.
- If you want the long way and not kill the zombie, talk to Thrumbo and say you’ll help him find the jars that contain the Mystic Carrion’s body parts, especially the heart.
- Infiltrate the Mystic Carrion’s basement by entering through a small hole leading you to the Mystic Carrion’s lair.
- Head to the city’s sewers by entering through the door we’ve marked.
- Head to the Ancient Lair. You’ll have to fight a few zombies.
- Break the door to a secret room and read the book on the ground.
- The book will reveal the location of the Mystic Carrion’s heart, which, sadly, is inside Thrumbo.
- Go back to Thrumbo and have him spit the jar and destroy it (shoot fire at it from afar because the jars explode).
- Go back to Phylgrave’s Mansion and defeat Mystic Carrion (fighting him before destroying the jars is useless as he’ll keep reviving).
Defeat the Mystic Carrion Quest Rewards
We consider doing the Mystic Carrion quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 crucial, especially if you have a character that leans toward necromancy. After you defeat the Mystic Carrion, you can loot his body to find the Staff of Cherished Necromancy and the Armour of the Sporekeeper. Both items are great for Necromancy Wizards and Circle of the Spore Druids. Besides that, you’ll find a special torch inside the mansion that you’ll need for another quest.
