Barry Keoghan has gained a ton of attention for his work in the buzzworthy film Saltburn. The actor stole the show as Oliver Quick in the film, which also co-starred Jacob Elordi. The movie featured several jaw-dropping moments, including a bathtub scene that fans can’t stop talking about. However, in another shocking moment, Keoghan is seen defiling a grave, a scene that he says wasn’t in the script.
According to Deadline, Keoghan fully embodied his Saltburn character. So much so that while filming where he stands on the grave of the object of his obsession, he improvised one of the most memorable moments. During an appearance on the Golden Globes red carpet, the Irish native admitted to improvising the polarizing scene. Keoghan claims that he wanted to see how far his character would go and asked that the camera continue to roll as he felt out the moment, which featured him going fully nude.
Barry Keoghan Improvised One of Saltburn’s Most Shocking Scenes
“I wanted to see what Oliver would do next. I wanted to see what the next level of obsession was.” Keoghan said. “And by that [I mean], I just wanted the camera to roll. Not to kind of preempt it or rehearse it and what happened, happened. It was one take, and I think it was right. It moved the story forward,” he added.
Barry Keoghan also opened up about his nude dance scene in the film. “I didn’t know I could move my hips that way. Honestly, I didn’t. The dance scene was cool. I’d love to kind of do a musical next, I think. I’m just putting that out there. I can’t sing, though,” he said.
Keoghan was nominated for a Golden Globe for his work in Saltburn. His co-star Rosamund Pike was also nominated. However, neither took home the trophy. Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from going wild over the film online, as it’s quickly becoming a cult classic.
