Those plans seem to have gotten off on the wrong footing though, as Ben Affleck dashed Lopez’s hopes by opting instead to reconnect with the mother of his kids, Jennifer Garner, for Thanksgiving. The Green Lantern co-stars stepped out on Thursday with other volunteers at the Midnight Mission shelter in downtown Los Angeles, to hand out food to those in need.

Photos from the commendable Thanksgiving mission have surfaced on social media, with the shelter’s official Instagram page personally thanking Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner for their hard work. The snaps captured the co-parents putting on a united front in their hair nets and aprons as they handed out meal packs to folks at the homeless shelter. Actress Sarah Paulson and Dancing With the Stars pro Sasha Farber also joined the Thanksgiving food drive.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez had an in-house Thanksgiving in her apartment, where she resides with her twins Max and Emme. The star shared a photo on Instagram showing her standing over her stuffed turkey in the kitchen, accompanying it with a warm message wishing fans a happy Thanksgiving. While she appeared to have an enjoyable celebration, it wasn’t exactly the Thanksgiving she’d hoped for, at least according to insiders.
Lopez Reportedly Invited Affleck and Garner to Thanksgiving Dinner
Earlier this month, a source revealed that the businesswoman was looking to spend the holidays with her ex-husband to lure him in and possibly mend their broken relationship. The sources claimed Jennifer Lopez planned a big Thanksgiving dinner and invited Ben Affleck and his three kids. She even extended the invitation to Jennifer Garner, who would have to accompany her kids.
The insider noted that Lopez did not care how awkward it became, simply focusing on achieving her goal at all costs. Expectedly, that would put Ben Affleck in a tight spot, having to choose between two women who were the center of his love life and family at some point. They divulged,
“Ben will be stuck in the middle trying to keep them both happy. It’s going to be complete chaos if she gets her way, but he doesn’t know how to say no.”
By the looks, Ben Affleck found himself the perfect strategy to turn down Jennifer Lopez’s awkward Thanksgiving plans without incurring her wrath. After all, who could get mad at a commendable act of charity?
