A Black woman in Michigan shared a video in which she alleged that Texas Roadhouse was separating customers based on race. In the video, the woman is seen inside a Texas Roadhouse restaurant, where she notices customers seated in separate sections. She walks through the restaurant while filming, showing one section where customers appear to be White and another section where customers appear to be Black.
The seating arrangement led the woman to believe that, as a Black customer, she had been placed in the “colored section.” This prompted reactions online, with some individuals who identified as Texas Roadhouse employees claiming that similar seating patterns occur at other locations.
The video sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms. An X user, @AmiriKing, who has more than 440,000 followers, commented on the video and said, “Nature is healing,” while stitching the original post shared by the woman.
He claimed that businesses are starting to “wake up” and made remarks that some users interpreted as racist. He suggested that the restaurant create a section for Black customers and assign what he described as its “worst servers” to them so they wouldn’t receive tips. The video included additional similar comments, and some users in the replies appeared to agree with the post’s framing.
Divided Reactions Following Michigan Woman’s Video
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers said they believed the woman’s interpretation of the seating arrangement, with some alleging that customers were being separated based on race. Several individuals who claimed to be employees said they had observed similar patterns at work. One person wrote, “I work there. I reported it and I got written up,” while another said, “as a former server there…trust me we noticed it too and i got written up for mentioning it.”
Some comments expressed agreement with the alleged seating plan. One user wrote, “Thats the loud no tip section you give to the newest server you dont like.” Another added, “No tips given in that section.” On the other hand, a former employee said the seating arrangement may occur unintentionally. “As a former hostess, sometimes it happens like this without noticing,” they wrote.
The video drew mixed reactions online, with some viewers describing the alleged customer seating patterns as concerning and raising questions about how the restaurant manages seating.
