Caitlin Clark has been a basketball phenomenon since her college days. However, her rookie year in the WNBA has been nothing short of impressive. Clark, after already breaking many rookie records, has just added another to her stellar first season. In the Indiana Fever’s 92-75 win over the Seattle Storm on Sunday, Clark broke Ticha Penicheiro’s previous record of 225 assists in 30 games. That record was set in 1998 while Ticha was on the Sacramento Monarchs.
According to People, Caitlin Clark has reached that incredible feat in just 28 games. Former WNBA player and previous holder of the record, Ticha Penicheiro, took to social media to congratulate Clark on such an achievement. However, she was not the only one. Fans everywhere took to Twitter to hype up Clark. One fan even wrote, “Record breaker breaking records for fun.”
Caitlin Clark Breaks Huge WNBA Record
“Records are meant to be broken…it shows growth and evolution. Can’t think of a better player to break it!” said Penicheiro.
Clark’s amazing rookie season just keeps getting better. After he was snubbed from the Olympic team, Clark took a much-needed vacation. After that, she returned ready to make a push for the Rookie Of The Year Award. However, she does still have some competition.
Caitlin Calrk has put the WNBA on the map, but it seems like Angel Reese doesn’t understand the hype. Reese has stated multiple times that fans also watch women’s basketball because of her, not just Clark. Reese has put up solid numbers so far, but Calrk has just been outstanding.
Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have an interesting rivalry that goes back to college ball. Although Reese beat Clark in the national championship game, Caitlin seems to be the bigger name by far. Angel has also said a number of nasty things about Caitlin that went unanswered. With Clark adding a new record under her belt, she may just be a lock for Rookie Of The Year.
