After tragically losing her father, a Georgia woman decided to pay tribute in a way that would melt the most frozen of hearts. In a multi-part series, she shares that she’s “cleaning my Dad’s childhood home that I inherited.” The place has seen better days, but the way she’s moving those days are numbered.
TikTok user Nikkismiley228 shares the latest episode of her journey—this one being a particularly tough one given that it’s the first time she’s celebrated Father’s Day without her day, who passed away two weeks after being diagnosed with lung and liver cancer. To pay tribute to her father, she decided to completely restore the house.
In numerous parts of the house, Nikki noted all sorts of damage and clutter. For example, she shows a before-and-after of her aunt’s old bedroom. It had once been filled with boxes and memories, but with Nikki’s flair, it looks unrecognizable.
In her most recent video, she shows a bathroom in his home and says this is her next big project. Nikki says her father smoked in the bathroom for 50 years, which makes sense given the yellowing on the walls and ceiling. She also takes this as an opportunity to gently tell her followers to please give up smoking so they can save their own lives.
Nikki shows the process of fixing up her father’s bathroom to her specifications. This includes caulking inside and outside the tub, as well as giving it some fresh paint. It used to be baby blue, which was a sign of the times. While she’s painting, she sings happily to herself and ends up doing a fabulous job.
By the time she’s finished, it looks like a brand new tub! Nikki decorates with a black shower curtain and vine lighting around the toilet area. It all comes together with a fabulous black-and-white theme. Just like with her aunt’s old bedroom, you would never have guessed someone smoked in that bathroom for five decades straight.

Not only did Nikki’s TikTok video see so much support, it’s been constant since she started her journey and series. Each video goes viral, with many supporters offering advice, like what to use and home renovation ideas.
“You need a caulking gun,” one person wrote, commenting on the struggle Nikki had using one in the bathroom. What she ended up doing was painting on the caulking, which worked, but now she’ll know for future reference.
“You should paint the window border black,” another person suggested. Others commented on the thread, stating Nikki is planning on doing that once she figures out how to open the window. Given the black accents, it’d really bring the bathroom together!
One viewer offered some advice on how to protect the bathtub further. “Considering getting a glaze on the tub so it won’t chip,” they wrote and praised Nikki on her hard work. A longtime viewer chimed in too, saying, “I’ve been locked in since day 1. Your dad is so proud of you.”
Nikki seems to agree! She shows her progress so far and says she knows her “daddy is proud” of the work she’s done. “I’m getting there, y’all,” she admits, knowing there’s still more work to be done.
