Reflecting the acrimony between the Beckhams, the two publicists began to compete rather than collaborate to promote their own client. Both fed negative stories about the other side to their favorite tabloid journalists.
Bower described the media war “like a nuclear bomb had gone off.” The author also reveals several instances of the couple having heated arguments. One incident took place in 2016 when David returned to London after a visit to Miami.
During London Fashion Week that year, she asked Beckham to return to London for a dinner. By the end of the celebration, she must have wished he had stayed in America. Some whispered that the two had been embroiled earlier in a foul-mouthed row.
Although the Beckhams have a rocky relationship behind the scenes, they’re sticking together. But Bower alleges it’s more for business purposes than love. “They stuck together to support the Brand,” Bower writes.
With their endorsement deals, and business ventures, the couple has a combined net worth of $450 million according to Celebrity Net Worth.
As with any tell-all book, it’s important to take everything with a grain of salt. Whether Bower’s allegations are true or not doesn’t bother the Beckhams. David and Victoria are concentrating on their family and their careers.
