David Beckham and Mark Wahlberg’s friendly paradise is facing big troubles. The bosom buddies have found themselves at loggerheads over a deal gone wrong involving the former soccer player and the Hollywood star. Beckham is suing Wahlberg’s fitness company. He claims they duped him of $10 million.
David Beckham Takes Mark Wahlberg’s Company To Court
David Beckham’s grievances were tabled in a lawsuit spearheaded by his company, DB Ventures LTD. The former Man United player alleged he entered into a deal with F45 Training — co-owned by Mark Wahlberg — in 2020. Beckham signed up to be an ambassador for the fitness brand. He would use his massive influence to promote the brand on social media. In return, he would receive stock options that would yield a lot of money alongside a payment of $1.5 million annually.
Unfortunately, Beckham never got what he was promised. Per The Sun, the lawsuit claims F45’s stocks crashed, resulting in Beckham losing $10 million. The retired athlete believes Wahlberg’s company “duped” him and conducted business fraudulently. Also, he is suing Wahlberg’s Investment Group (MWIG). However, the Pain & Gain actor and his co-defendants denied all allegations levied. They wanted the case dismissed, but the judge refused.
It is well known that David Beckham and Mark Wahlberg’s relationship dates back all the way to 2007. The British native became pals with the Hollywood hunk when he moved to the United States to play for L.A. Galaxy. David and his wife, Victoria Beckham, lived close to Wahlberg’s family in Beverly Hills.
Will David Beckham & Mark Wahlberg Face Off In Court?
Beckham and Wahlberg are yet to discuss the legal battle publicly. However, court documents revealed that the judge has signed off on the case heading to trial. According to Radar Online, F45 Training wants the lawsuit heard before a federal jury while Beckham’s DB Ventures is demanding a bench trial.
However, the judge sided with Wahlberg’s company and decided on a jury trial. It is unsure if Beckham and Wahlberg will have to appear in court in person, but a hearing has been set for January 2025.
Will Beckham and Wahlberg be able to protect their friendship amid the legal battle? Only time will tell.
