Drake has unfollowed LeBron James on Instagram, making their beef 100 percent official. There have been rumors about LeBron and Drake’s relationship for a little while now. In June 2024, the NBA champion was spotted at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” concert with other athletes and his wife, Savannah. This, of course, reportedly rubbed Drake the wrong way, considering his beef with Lamar. The two have been going back and forth since March when Kendrick made a bold statement on Future & Metro Boomin’s “Like That.”
Following the single’s release, Drake released two diss tracks, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” both aimed at K Dot. Afterward, the two rappers dropped additional songs about each other, but Kendrick was declared the winner of their battle when he released the No. 1 hit, “Not Like Us.” The song was so popular that celebrities, athletes, and influencers alike sang its praises. This prompted Drake to cut ties with people many considered to be like his family.
Trouble in Paradise Between LeBron, Drake, and Other NBA Stars
Even though Drake recently unfollowed LeBron James on Instagram, people close to the pair began dropping hints that something was wrong some time ago. After LeBron and DeMar DeRozan were spotted jamming to Lamar’s diss track, New York City rapper Joe Budden commented on the tension he noticed.
“The passive-aggressive LeBron-Drake beef is interesting to me,” Budden said on his show, The Joe Budden Podcast. “I know nobody’s paying attention to it, but it is a real thing. It’s happening. … It might not be too many people paying attention to this, but there’s something with that friendship.”
Now that Drake has made his position clear, fans were quick to jump online and share their opinions.
“Drake unfollowing Lebron James is wicked,” one user wrote. “He can’t like the song, bro?”
“That’s definitely his loss,” another posted. “Who doesn’t want to follow the GOAT?”
Since users noticed Drake’s social media activity, some pointed out many of the other celebrities he cut ties with. Playboi Carti, Rick Ross, and Joe Budden are on that list. To make matters worse for Drake, Kendrick, who’s received international praise for his hit, will headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
“You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship,” he said in the promo clip. “No round twos.”
