Elvis Presley fans worldwide are heartbroken to learn that the King of Rock and Roll’s iconic Graceland mansion and museum are going up for auction. The foreclosure sale could occur later this week unless the Presley family devises a way to save it.
Lisa Marie Presley’s Daughter Riley Keough Fights To Save Elvis’ Graceland Home
Actress Riley Keough has a lot on her plate this week. The eldest daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and granddaughter of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, is scrambling to save her family’s legacy. It seems that her mom failed to repay a hefty $3.8 million loan she took out on her Father, Elvis’ mansion. Lisa Marie passed away unexpectedly in 2023, and now it falls on Riley’s shoulders to save the family home her famous granddad Elvis loved so much.
The Sun reports that Riley is fighting the bank behind the foreclosure and claims they had no right to the property in the first place. Riley and twin sisters, Finley and Harper Lockwood, have filed an appeal claiming that the Graceland foreclosure is fraudulent.
Earlier this month, a notice went up notifying the family. The notice states that Graceland would be sold at an auction on May 23 to the highest bidder. The auction will occur before the Shelby County Courthouse in Memphis, Tennessee. Naussany Investments and Private Lending claim that in 2018, Lisa took out the loan using the Graceland property as collateral. Unfortunately, Lisa Marie passed away before repaying the debt, and now they are ready to collect.
Elvis Presley Family Stands To Lose It All
Riley Keough is fighting the sale, claiming the loan is fake. She insists that her late mother did not execute it and also claims that the signatures on the paperwork are forgeries. Riley may have one ace in the hole if she can prove her case. She says the notary involved with the deed denies ever verifying Lisa Marie Presley’s signature or having ever met her.
An injunction hearing is set for Wednesday morning. Riley Keough and her minor twin sisters stand to lose a lot if things do not go their way in court. Not only will they lose the last ties they have to their grandfather, but they will also lose millions of dollars.
Every year, more than 600,000 Elvis Presley and family fans come through the gates of Graceland Mansion and Museum. Fans tour the museum and enjoy Elvis Week festivities during the week of the late singer’s death on August 16.
Fans also pay their respects to Elvis Presley with a candlelight vigil while walking through Graceland’s Meditation Gardens. This is where Elvis, Lisa Marie, and her son Benjamin Keough are buried alongside Presley’s parents and grandparents.
