The Willis family is super “grateful” for their patriarch, Bruce Willis, despite the dark circumstances surrounding his health. For the holidays, the actor’s daughters surprised fans with a rare photo of him, reminding the world that he is still putting up a fight.
In a joint Thanksgiving post on Instagram, daughters Tallulah and Scout Willis shared a sweet photo of their famous dad during the holiday. The Die Hard actor seemed in good spirits despite looking quite frail. He donned a grey sweater over a white T-shirt paired with dark blue pants and black sneakers. He proudly held a table plaque that read, “Best Dad Ever.” Bruce’s daughters doted on him in the adorable photos. In the first frame, the trio was deep in a conversation, with Bruce smiling at Scout while Tallulah played with his right ear. Scout then hugged the Golden Globe winner with their faces affectionately touching while Tallulah looked at them.
The post is a rare sighting of the 69-year-old who has majorly retreated from the public eye since his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia in February 2023. Unfortunately, there is no cure for the disease, and Bruce’s condition progressively worsened. Prior to the Thanksgiving appearance, close sources revealed that the family vowed to make the upcoming Holiday season the most special and memorable yet. With Bruce’s health rapidly declining, time is running out for both him and his loved ones. The holidays are favorite times for the actor and his family wants to make the most of it while he is still here.
Bruce Willis’ Daughters Know ‘Daddy’s Not Going To Get Better’
Bruce’s Thanksgiving photo comes a month after his wife, Emma Heming Willis, spoke about their daughter Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, coming to terms with their father’s failing health. Speaking to Town and Country Magazine, the doting wife said:
“I’ve never tried to sugarcoat anything for them. They’ve grown up with Bruce declining over the years. I’m not trying to shield them from it.”
Emma explained that years before getting diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, Bruce was already showing signs of deteriorated mental health. However, it wasn’t until the official FTD diagnosis she got clarity. Now, the actress knows her husband’s condition is “chronic, progressive, and terminal” and tries to pass that along to their daughters. “Obviously, I don’t like to speak about the terminal side of this with them, nor have they asked. They know that Daddy’s not going to get better,” she confessed.
Regardless of the inevitable end, Emma Heming vows to continue to raise awareness about FTD. “I’m not going to allow FTD to take our whole family down. Bruce wouldn’t want that,” she declared. “They’re going to see me fight for our family, have some hope, and help the next family out there.”
