Microsoft will stop providing Xbox 360 titles in the Games with Gold subscription service this October. The console maker sends emails to Live Gold and Xbox Pass Ultimate subscribers informing them about the new decision and stating that they “have maxed its capacity for adding Xbox 360 titles to the library.”
Xbox 360 Completes its Mission in Games With Gold
Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers receive a variety of free titles each month as a benefit of their premium membership. The Gold list, shared with subscribers every month, included the occasional new Xbox and old Xbox 360/One titles. However, according to Microsoft’s latest statement, Games with Gold will no longer offer Xbox 360 games from October. This email shows the end of an era for the console, which was initially introduced in 2005 and was shelved in 2016.
“Beginning October 1, 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members via Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles,” Microsoft said in a statement to Engadget. The Xbox maker also notes that Xbox One titles will continue to be included in the monthly freebies and that subscribers will lose no additional advantages due to this change. We should add that the Xbox 360 games that were given before will remain in the library.
“We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog; however, Games with Gold will continue to include exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month. This will not impact any Xbox 360 games that you downloaded before October 2022.”
If you have been Xbox Live Gold members for a while, you have an extensive library. Even if you don’t plan to play them right away, it is essential to keep in mind to keep playing the free games, perhaps every month.
