Country music star Garth Brooks is being accused of sexual assault and battery in a new lawsuit filed by a former who previously worked for Brooks’ wife, Trish Yearwood. The employee filed the suit anonymously under the name of Jane Roe on Thursday in a California state court.
In the shocking lawsuit against Garth Brooks, Jane Roe alleges that she traveled with the singer to Los Angeles for the May 2019 Grammy event honoring R&B singer Sam Moore. The court documents obtained by the Daily Mail state in detail Roe’s account of the events leading up to the alleged assault.
The plaintiff claims the Rodeo singer booked only one hotel suite for them both, and when she asked for a separate accommodation, Brooks allegedly refused to provide one. She then accuses the singer of accosting her in the doorway nude. Roe continues by stating Garth Brooks then hauled her into another room, where she claims he dangled her upside down by the ankles and raped her.
CNN adds that Brooks was aware of the allegations and anonymously filed to fight back, using the name ‘John Doe,’ before the makeup artist filed her lawsuit. Roe describes the singer’s attacks as violent. She also claims to have remained under his employment despite her financial difficulties, adding that Brooks allegedly exploited her circumstances to his advantage. According to the complaint, Roe stopped working for Brooks and moved to Mississippi around May 2021.
Garth Brooks Issues Public Statement In Defense Of Rape Accusations
In a statement issued to the Daily Mail, country singer Garth Brooks responds to assault allegations, stating, “For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.“
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another. We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.”
“I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
Fans ReactTo Claims Made Against Country Legend
Fans took to the comment section to voice their thought on the shocking lawsuit with many finding the details, bizarre, and questionable.
“Some things are pretty easy to prove, such as a single hotel room and text messages. She may have also recorded his behavior. This doesn’t work without an evidence trail,” states one commenter. Another adds, “She claims he took her phone and deleted the texts. How convenient.“
“This happened 5 1/2 years ago, and she continued to work for him? Where are the criminal charges from the saved texts?” asks another. “No matter how dire your situation, would you continue to work for someone who abused you long before the trip? We obviously don’t know if this man is guilty or not, so why is his name all over the press?” states one more.
Garth Brooks’s wife, Trisha Yearwood, has not publicly commented on her former employee’s accusations against her husband. This story is still developing.
