Helldivers 2 has quickly become one of the most-played PlayStation games since its release. It has not only sold over a million units but has also crossed 200,000 concurrent players. Fans have been wondering about the game’s success, and what content they could expect to be added in the future. This led to some players wondering about a way to play against each other or crossover content, but, it turns out, that Helldivers 2 will never get any PvP content.
The CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios Johan Pilestedt, the developer of Helldivers 2, confirmed that a PvP mode for the game will “never” happen. Although this may seem odd at first, the reasoning for this is very sound. When explaining why he doesn’t believe the game needs a PvP mode, Pilestedt said they don’t want to create a toxic environment where people are fighting against one another like other multiplayer shooters. He prefers that all players are fighting on the same side.
Helldivers 2 Won’t Have a PvP Mode But Could Have Crossovers
This doesn’t leave any room for negotiation when it comes to a potential PvP mode coming to Helldivers 2. But when asked about potential crossover events in the future, Pilestedt was a lot more open about that option. Even though Pilestedt hasn’t confirmed whether a crossover event is on the horizon, he did cryptically say “we’ll see” on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
He said this when a fan asked if Helldivers 2 will have a crossover event with the Killzone series. They’ve likely not made any concrete decisions about this just yet, but a crossover with Starship Troopers would be a sight to behold.
Helldivers 2 has been suffering from a few technical difficulties after launch, mainly regarding logging in. But most are being remedied with constant updates and patches. Helldivers 2 is out now on PlayStation 5 and PC.
