You can meet the boss in The Waning Moon. It is located at the following coordinates: X:-191, Y:-82. Unlike his friends Malus Thorm and Gerringothe Thorm, this enemy is very difficult to battle. So, if you don’t want to fight him, you can use the easier option, namely dialogues. So let’s talk about this option first.
BG3: Beat Thisobald Thorm Without a Fight
Well, if you’ve reached Waning Moon and decided to engage in a dialogue with Thisobald Thorm, the first thing you need to do is choose a character with the highest Constitution and Charisma. You can choose Monk or Rogue, and it will be even better if your character has both of these classes.
Your dialog with Thisobald Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3 will look like a typical gathering of friends in a bar, but it’s actually critical not to make a mistake because the boss can get angry and start attacking you. Here’s what you need to do:
- Have a drink with Thisobald Thorm. Here you will have to pass a DC 14.
- Continue with the dialogue, and now the next option you choose should be something related to Performance. Here you will need to pass the Charisma check and, depending on your choice, there will be a number that you will have to receive.
You will have to perform several times, namely drinking with him and talking as well. If you do everything right, then in the end, fatty will fall to the floor.
How to Defeat Thisobald Thorm in Combat
To defeat Thisobald Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3 in battle, you will have to position your team correctly. Foremost, choose a character with the most health and defense, he will act as a tank. Considering that the boss usually attacks the target that is closest to him, try to calculate so that your tank is as near to the opponent as possible. In addition, don’t forget to restore his health because if he dies, your chances will be significantly reduced.
Hisobald Thorm is immune to bludgeoning, piercing, thunder, and slashing attacks. This leaves only one option – magic. Take two of your strongest mage characters into battle, such as a Wizard, Sorcerer, or Warlock. Before or during the battle, try to move them to the 2nd floor of the tavern so that they can perform ranged attacks on the boss and be as far away from him as possible. This way, you can deal the most damage to him during the stage of the battle when he is most vulnerable.
Thisobald Thorm in Baldur’s Gate 3 also has a powerful AOE attack, the effect of which depends on which element you attack him with. This attack looks like a burp after the beer he drinks before attacking. Each time the brewer performs a burp attack, he gains a delirium stack. After accumulating 3 stacks of delirium, the boss loses consciousness for 1 turn. This stage is the most important during the battle because now you will need to deal as much damage as possible. In addition to being incapacitated, Thisobald Thorm also loses immunity to all of the above attacks. So take advantage of the opportunity and hit it with the most effective attacks you have.
The enemy can also summon imps, which give 50% resistance of a particular element to everyone standing near them. They will not be a big obstacle during the battle but still try to avoid them.
