In the Disney Dreamlight Valley Storybook Vale DLC that launched yesterday, players finally have the chance to get their hands on a Dragon, a Pegasus, or an Owl, so you must know what they eat to make them your friends. Believe us when we tell you that these fantastic mythological creatures have a very refined taste when it comes to their favorite foods.

These new companions also came in unique and different colors. However, you will have to search a lot all over the Storybook Vale map because each Dragon, Pegasus, and Owl has a different location in the Disney Dreamlight Valley Storybook Vale DLC:

When you need the Dragon’s favorite food, use your pickaxe to Mine Ore Nodes; search Pure Ice in Wild Woods and Magma in The Elysian Fields. For the Pegasus, the easiest way is to cook to get those 4 Star Vegetable Meals; there are several different recipes, or you can give the dishes your neighbors gave you as a gift. You will need Barley to feed the Owls, but it is not an ingredient you can just collect; you must buy Barley Seed from Goofy’s Stall. Each bag costs 15 Coins and takes 15 minutes to grow by planting them in The Bind.

The tricky part is finding out what Dragons, Owls, or Pegasus eat in Disney Dreamlight Valley because they react differently if you give them their Favorite or Liked food. For example, Dragons love Magma and Pure Ice as snacks; giving them those items will take you approximately 3-4 days to become their friend. If you feed Dragons with any Gem, taming them will be longer. By giving the Pegasus their Favorite Food, they take as long as the Dragons. The Purple and Brown Owls take two days only with their Favorite Food, and the Light and Dark Owls take four days.

How to Tame Storybook Vale Companions

Now that you know where each animal likes to spend their time and what they like to eat, the tricky part is to tame them. Taming any critter takes several days of dedication until it trusts you enough to become your companion. In addition to each companion, you must learn how to approach them:

DragonPegasusOwl
1. Once you get enough of the Dragons’ favorite foods, look for them in some areas where they like to appear.
2. When you see a Dragon, avoid running towards them. At first, they will be too scared for you to interact with them. Similar to Turtles or Foxes.
3. Wait for the Dragon to relax and lie down.
4. Get closer slowly until you can use the “Approach” option.
5. Then, you can select from your inventory the Magma, Pure Ice, or Gems you want to give it.
1. With everything ready, venture to the Mythopia area of the Pegasus you seek.
2. As soon as you see a Pegasus, you will notice that they have a lot of energy, so you should chase them until they get tired of running. This process is just like chasing down the Rabbitts in the base game.
3. When you see that the Pegasus is tired and no longer runs away, you can use “Approach.”
4. Select from your items some Vegetable Meal for this energetic winged horse.
After so much struggle to get close to the Pegasus and Dragons or to get their favorite foods. Owls are comparatively easier in food and taming.
1. Just approach them and use “Approach”.
2. Select some Grain, and that’s it.

A heart will appear after one of the companions eats, showing its friendship leveling up.
Repeat this process until you have earned the friendship of each animal.

Remember that to unlock any area in Storybook Vale, you must pay with Story Magic; each area has a different price. You can collect Story Magic by completing tasks, like with the Dreamlight.
