While it will occupy spaces of the inventory, most players will not know what to do with the maps. Zelda games are famous for dropping such confusing items in the previous iterations as well. You can find the Old Maps on the floating sky islands in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. To get these maps, you may explore the floating islands, open chests, fight enemies and go about playing the game in specific regions. However, some mini-bosses on the floating sky islands may also drop after you defeat them. Some items are exclusive to the sky islands and the Old Maps is one of them, so make sure to explore all regions thoroughly in the game.

How to Use the Old Maps

The Old Maps seem to have no use because they are ancient resources made for the Depths part of your map. When you ascend to the surface level, you’ll notice distinct red patches that represent the chasms leading to the depths beneath the map. By venturing into these chasms, you enter a different layer of the Zelda world. If you activate one of your Old Maps and then look around the Dpths part, you will notice one or more X marks. This indicates the location of hidden treasures that would remain undiscovered if you didn’t use the Old Maps.

Navigating the depths can be challenging, as you find yourself immersed in pitch-black darkness. To facilitate your progress, it is advisable to equip yourself with a torch or any other light source to illuminate your path. While traversing the depths, keep in mind that it may take some time to find your way back to the surface. However, using items or techniques specifically designed for this purpose can assist in ascending from the depths.

The underground journey may seem overwhelming, but the hidden treasures make it worth your while. So, prepare yourself with a light source, navigate carefully, and embark on an adventure to the depths. These challenges present an opportunity for unique discoveries and exceptional rewards in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
