Stardust is everything. You can’t level up Pokemon without it. So, that must mean the resource is plentiful in Pokemon Go, right? Well, yes and no. You can earn Stardust by doing almost anything in the game. However, it will take some time to get the large amounts most Pokemon need to learn a second move or power up to head off tough battles. It pays to learn how to farm Stardust in Pokemon Go so you can get more as fast as possible.
Catch the Right Pokemon for Stardust
Trainers earn Stardust with every Pokemon caught, but each catch isn’t the same. For starters, different evolutionary stages drop different amounts. At the first evolutionary level, you’ll get the minimum 100 Stardust. So, focus on catching second and third-evolutionary stage Pokemon for Stardust. They drop upwards of 200-300 per catch. Be sure you have a healthy supply of PokeBalls and Berries. Visiting PokeStops and Gyms helps with that.
Perks of Weather-Boosted Pokemon
Besides high-rated Pokemon, seek out weather-boosted ones for Stardust farming. These Pokemon always drop an additional amount of Stardust on top of their usual amount. Again, it does help to aim for the Pokemon higher up on the evolutionary tree.
Hatch Eggs for Stardust
Hatching Eggs will always grant you Stardust, so it’s an easy way to get more. Spinning PokeStops can earn you Eggs, or you can get your friends to send you gifts. You might earn Eggs by beating Team Rocket Go leaders. Below is an estimate of how much Stardust each Egg will give you in Pokemon Go:
- 2km: 400-800 Stardust
- 5km: 800-1600 Stardust
- 7km: 800-1600 Stardust
- 10km: 1600-3200 Stardust
- 12km: 3200-6400 Stardust
Focus on hatching the 7km to 12km Eggs. They’re your best bet at scoring thousands of Stardust. You’ll have to do quite some walking, of course. But you can combine it with catching quality Pokemon to double your earning rate of Stardust.
PvP Battles for Stardust in Pokemon Go
Another great way to farm Stardust is to focus on PvP battles. Go in with a solid team to breeze through the battles and unlock rewards with each win. A certain amount of Pokemon Go PvP wins will net you plenty of Stardust. Also, the higher rank you are, the more Stardust you get. You can quickly earn thousands compared to hoping to find good Pokemon to catch.
As mentioned before, you earn Stardust for just about every task. Even completing Special Research Tasks will typically reward you with a solid amount. However, if you want to earn Stardust fast, keep the tips above in mind.
Pokemon Go is available on iOS and Android.
