A large group of university students in Illinois was filmed taking donuts from a Dunkin’ location after employees reportedly walked off the job, leaving the store unattended.

The incident reportedly took place at the University of Illinois Chicago, although this has not been independently confirmed. A video shared on TikTok showed one student holding several donuts, with text on the screen claiming that all the employees had quit. The footage then showed a large group of students gathered around the unattended Dunkin’ location.

The incident also sparked discussion among University of Illinois Chicago students on Reddit, where several claimed the Dunkin’ employees had walked out over payment issues. One commenter even claimed an employee let people take the donuts, although others disputed that explanation. Neither the reason for the reported walkout nor whether the students had permission to take the food has been independently confirmed.

As the person filming approached the Dunkin’ location, several students appeared to be handing donuts to one another. Two students were also seen carrying large trays of donuts out of the store, laughing as they were filmed. One of them even appeared to be selecting which donuts he wanted to take.

The camera then showed the surrounding area, where many students were already holding one or two donuts. The video ended shortly afterward, leaving it unclear what happened next. While some Reddit commenters claimed the employees walked out over payment issues, the reason for their reported departure has not been independently verified. The person who shared the footage wrote in the caption, “UIC is just a mess after yesterday!!! SEC NEED TO REST.”

It remains unclear whether the students had permission to take the donuts or whether Dunkin’ or university officials have investigated the incident. No disciplinary action or criminal charges connected to the video have been independently confirmed.

Viewers Criticize Illinois University Students for Taking Donuts

Many viewers online criticized the Illinois university students for taking donuts from the unattended Dunkin’ location, with some accusing them of stealing the food. Some believed the students were risking their college education over something as minor as donuts. “Risking your degree over some donuts,” one person wrote. Another commented, “I just hope y’all don’t get expelled over some dry [expletive] donuts.”

Others continued criticizing the students, with some predicting that they could face disciplinary action if university officials reviewed the footage. “This is so embarrassing,” one person wrote. Another commented, “All I see is a bunch of suspensions smh there’s cameras everywhere in there.” Someone else added, “Wait until the Dean see all these videos and all the people grabbing baskets and ones behind the counter disciplinary action will be coming soon.”

The video left viewers divided over the students’ actions, with many questioning whether taking the donuts was worth the risk of disciplinary trouble. However, without confirmation of what happened after the employees reportedly left, it remains unclear whether the students actually took the food without permission.
