Imagine celebrating your 57th birthday at the swanky restaurant Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, California, only to end the night requiring medical attention? Well, Jamie Foxx will remember this night for a long time but the memories are unlikely to be positive because he was reportedly involved in an altercation during his birthday meal.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” the spokesperson told People. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
Our immediate reaction is why? Who did it? And what is the outcome of the events? Unfortunately, very little information is known about the incident at the moment. What we do know mostly comes from TMZ sources who informed the outlet that the police were called to the restaurant around 10 pm, but when they arrived, Foxx had already left. It was also reported that the star was celebrating with his daughters Corinne and Anelise Foxx, their mom, and his ex-partner Kristin Grannis.
As the news trickled in, an eyewitness to the event told TMZ that patrons at another table were “being rude and vulgar to Jamie, and he asked them to stop since his family was present …” It was then that the other customers escalated the incident by throwing a glass at their table, which hit Foxx in the face.

The Back in Action actor has not made a statement about the incident. Still, he has been active on social media promoting his Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was (a venture he is very proud of judging by the heavy promotion). He has posted several videos on Instagram to share with his 17 million fans, including a sweet post of him embracing his daughter, Anelise Foxx, onstage.
In the caption, he reflected on how she would bring her guitar everywhere and commented on how she “used that guitar to Heal me and bring me back and to make sure that I’m here… that guitar was my spiritual defibrillator… my beautiful daughter you are special and I’m glad the world gets a chance to see how special you are……” These are beautiful words from a man who values his family.
Days before, the actor made a video post on social media thanking his fans for their continued support, including throughout his health journey (he previously confirmed that in 2023, he suffered a stroke caused by a brain bleed). The stroke almost killed him, but he is now able to tell his story and is thankful for the opportunity to do so.
