Vice President Kamala Harris could be the next President of the United States. She’s been tirelessly campaigning against Donald Trump with the support of her husband, Doug Emhoff. The couple, who celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in August, are the epitome of a perfect family. Harris is stepmother to Emhoff’s two children and friends with his ex-wife, who attended the 2024 DNC. Yet, a new report about Doug’s past is shattering the Second Gentleman’s image.
According to the Daily Mail, Emhoff is accused of allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, whom the newspaper refers to as “Jane.” Three anonymous friends have come forward to tell Jane’s story.
One of the alleged incidents of abuse took place during a trip to France in May 2012. The former entertainment lawyer reportedly “struck the woman in the face so hard she spun around.”
Later that evening, Jane called one of her friends, crying as she explained the incident.
It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing. She told me she was with a guy and he hit her.
It was very clear what she was telling me. She said she was with a guy, her date, she was at the Cannes Film Festival, and he hit her. She was in the car with the guy at the time.
Another friend recalled Jane saying the incident happened “between 2-3 am” as the couple was leaving a party. As they were waiting for a taxi, Jane chatted with the valet, which set Doug off.
She put her hand on the valet’s shoulder, and as she was talking to him, Doug comes up.
She said he turned her around by her right shoulder, and she was completely caught off guard. He hauled up and slapped her so hard she spun around. She said she was in utter shock.

Emhoff’s slap left Jane shocked because it “came out of nowhere.” Up until that point, he’d been a gentleman and was head over heels in love with her. When the couple discussed the slap, Doug was reportedly “unapologetic.”
That night Jane broke up with Doug and the two went their separate ways.
So far Harris or Emhoff haven’t officially committed on the abuse allegations. But according to Semafor, an unnamed representative for the Second Gentleman claims “this report is untrue.” The rep went on to say, “any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.”
Time will tell if the allegations against her husband will have any impact on Kamala Harris’ campaign.
