The Princess of Wales finally broke her silence, putting concerned hearts to rest. In an emotional video shared on the official social media account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton attributed her absence to an ongoing battle with cancer.
She began by thanking everyone for the wonderful messages of support and understanding she received while recovering from her abdominal surgery. The royal admitted her family has experienced “an incredibly tough couple of months.” Throughout it all, Kate Middleton had a great medical team looking after her health and recovery.
The royal mom of three recalled undergoing abdominal surgery in January, which was successful. Kate Middleton clarified the initial report that ruled her condition as non-cancer-related. According to her, they sincerely believed her condition was noncancerous. However, while running a series of routine tests following a successful surgery, doctors discovered “cancer had been present.”
As a result, her medical team recommended preventative chemotherapy to halt further spread of the cancer. Kate Middleton confirmed she was in the early stages of chemotherapy to beat cancer, which she commenced after her body recovered from the earlier surgery. In her emotional statement, the Princess noted that it all came as a shock to the family. She added,
“William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”
Informing Thier Kids Was a Huge Challenge
More than their need for privacy, the Prince and Princess of Wales had to figure out the best way to breach the subject to their three young children. Hence their prolonged silence. Having reassured her kids of her well-being, the princess extended the same graces to the world, saying,
“As I’ve said to them, I am well. I am getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that would help me heal in my mind, body, and spirit. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you.”
