Kelly Clarkson hasn’t held back about her feelings for her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The American Idol alum has often referenced her messy split with the father of her two children, River and Remington. However, she’s taken throwing shade to a whole new level as she used some Christmas decor to get a dig in at her former husband while also promoting her latest holiday album, When Christmas Comes Around…Again.
According to a report by Page Six, Kelly Clarkson shared an official post for the album, and fans immediately noticed one big detail. In the clip, four stockings hang over an illuminated fireplace as a Christmas tree can be seen off to the side. The stockings clearly read Mom, River, Remy, and “NOPE.”
Of course, fans immediately began to talk about Clarkson throwing shade at Blackstock, whom she’s had a very dramatic divorce with. While some thought that the singer’s diss was well-deserved and funny, others called it immature and worried about the children being caught in the middle of the situation.

“Kelly – You were divorced in 2020, and soon it will be 2025. Yet you are clearly full of bitterness. That CANNOT be healthy for your children. Kids pick up on the anger and hate,” one person commented.
“Yeah, that’s it Kelly, teach your kids to hate their dad,” another stated.
“Tacky and immature. This guy is the father of her kids. She picked him, so this is not the flex she thinks it is. Grow up, Kelly,” a third person wrote.
“This is so toxic for the kids,” a fourth comment read.
Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot back in 2013 before welcoming their two children. However, in 2020, Kelly filed for divorce. The pair battled over assets and other issues and eventually finalized the split in March 2022. One year later, Brandon was ordered to pay his ex-wife $2.6 million for unlawfully procuring deals as her manager that should’ve been handled by a talent manager.
Since the split, Clarkson hasn’t been shy about dissing her ex. She’s gotten candid about her feelings and has even changed lyrics to songs to reflect her thoughts on the divorce, per People Magazine.
Sources previously reported that the singer even “felt single” during her marriage to Blackstock. Clarkson allegedly didn’t feel supported or like she had a partner during her marriage, which ultimately led to her divorce.

Since ending her marriage to the talent manager, Clarkson has stayed single. The talk show host has admitted that she’s not really looking to date at the moment. However, that’s just fine with her two children. Kelly confessed that both River and Remy have stated that they don’t want their mother to find a new man.
