LAPD Slammed After Another No Kings Protest Spirals Out of Control: ‘They Don’t Even Know the Law’

To serve and protect, right?

By now, the No Kings protests aren’t new for people, and many already knew that the biggest events of this movement would take place during the weekend. However, despite some states allowing peaceful protests, California once again came under fire for how its government handled the situation. In this case, we’re talking about the No Kings protest that took place in Los Angeles, California, which ended up in yet another show of tear gas-throwing and massive arrests. Yet this time, people blamed the LAPD, and there are a few TikTokers with some interesting ideas on how to make protests peaceful for everyone.

LAPDs escalation at today's protests are why it's important for the City Council to have the power to modify LAPD Policy.

Everyone already knows what the outcome of some of the No Kings protests in California were, especially the one in Los Angeles. For the unaware, authorities conducted mass arrests outside of the Metropolitan Detention Center after civilians “failed to disperse.”

Some TikTokers, such as Nick Caputo, who is in the video above, believe there’s a way to make protests more peaceful for everyone.

According to Caputo, the best way to ensure smoother experiences during protests is to have a PD reform. He compares the No Kings protests in Los Angeles to those in New York. In the latter, he shows that the government announced there were no arrests. He notes how the LAPD seems to have a culture of escalating, instead of de-escalating, which could be fixed by a complete police reform. Lastly, he encourages people to vote for a reform that would allow the city council to modify the police department’s policy, in turn benefiting many people participating in protests and other events.

Others Speak Out About The LAPD Officers

Naturally, this topic sparked a debate in the Reddit post, with the majority of Redditors backing the TikToker’s claim while also slamming the LAPD for how poorly they’ve managed protests ever since they started in the city.

“Increase the minimum requirements to be a police officer. Make them have bachelor’s degrees or higher,” said one user.

“They don’t even know what the law is,” another user commented.

In the end, it is unclear how the next No Kings protest will unfold, but one thing is certain: escalation needs to stop so quickly. While the LAPD seems to be at fault here, we need to remember that some civilians also help with escalating these events into mayhem, so it needs to be a two-sided effort to have peaceful protests.
