If there’s one thing to say about Larry David, as is the case with most comedians, he isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Recently, David had the nerve to call Donald Trump a “sick man” and a “little baby” when discussing the impact the 45th president had on society and the economy. And if David isn’t afraid to trash talk Donald Trump, he won’t hesitate to protect his privacy, either.
CNN’s Chris Wallace interviewed the 76-year-old about his estimated net worth. But David wasn’t so hasty to disclose that information. Wallace, also 76, said he googled David’s net worth on the internet, and read that it sat around the half a billion dollar mark.
Larry David Declines To Answer the Question
“Over or under half a billion dollars?” CNN’s Chris Wallace asked.
David replied, “I’m gonna say what should have been said to your father, right? None of your f**king business. How about that? And that’s ridiculous. That’s ridiculous, what you just said. That number is so preposterous. Okay? Ridiculous.”
“How about $100 million?” Wallace offered.
“How about you shut up? Okay. How about you shut up? Is that all right?” David joked back.
David co-created the television sitcom Seinfeld with fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who portrayed a semi-fictionalized version of himself. David acted as head writer and executive producer for the first seven seasons and gained further recognition for his HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which David stars as a semi-fictionalized version of himself.
Seinfeld earned Larry David two Primetime Emmy Awards in 1993, one for Outstanding Comedy Series and one for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing in a Comedy Series. He was nominated on 17 other occasions.
Estimates Put David’s Net Worth At Approximately Half a Million Dollars
Forbes reported in 2015 that “his net worth is in the hundreds of millions of dollars,” with some reporting that before his divorce from Laurie David, “it could have been as high as $900 million.”
David was married to Laurie Lennard from 1993 to 2007. The couple share two daughters, Cazzie David and Romy David. In 2017, David was introduced to producer Ashley Underwood at one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s birthday parties. They married in 2020.
In 2013, journalist and talk show host Charlie Rose estimated David’s net worth to be around $500 million. Two years later, further estimates put the number between US$400 million and $900 million.
Aside from Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David is also known for portraying Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live.
