It’s been four years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from the royal life. Their exit sparked a family feud Harry’s brother Prince William, and his father King Charles. While many people blamed the Suits actress for the rift, tensions between the relatives began long before he met Meghan.
After leaving London, the couple and their children have settled into their new home in Montecito, California. Although they’re forging their new path, they can’t escape the Royal Family.
The ongoing rift with the royals is affecting the couple’s relationship. According to The Mirror, there’s been a shift in power at the Sussex household. Royal expert Tom Quinn believes Meghan Markle is ready to move away from the drama, but it’s the opposite for Prince Harry.
Meghan appears to have moved on to some extent but then she was only part of the Royal Family for a relatively short time and she has far more to focus on in the States than her husband has.
She’s the main driver for their commercial enterprises in the States, where, having taken the dog for a walk each morning, Harry has a little to do beyond brooding over the past.
King Charles’ cancer diagnosis has encouraged Prince Harry to try to repair their strained relationship. In February, Harry traveled to London to meet with his father, and the meeting reportedly went well.
Yet, when Harry visited London in May to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Invictus Games, he didn’t see his father. As for Prince William, it appears there’s no sign of the rift mending between the brothers.
Although Harry is trying to put on a brave front amid the ongoing feud, it’s still bothering him. Quinn cites the couple’s recent Nigerian tour as proof of Harry’s unhappiness.
In Nigeria and even with Meghan at his side and regularly holding his hand, he still has a permanent look of bitterness on his face.
While Markle is busy with her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, her husband is brooding. One source told OK! Magazine that Harry is “stuck in the past.”
It is one thing to get happily nostalgic or even bitter about something from years ago, but Harry lives with this every day. His mother’s passing when he was only 12 may play a part in this, but he dictates his entire present on distant memories or slights from the ’90s or 2000s. He cannot push forward.
The royal feud has brought up a lot of good and bad memories for Prince Harry. It’s understandable why he’s dwelling on the past given the latest developments. With the support of his wife Meghan, maybe he can learn to let go of the past and focus on the present.
