Meghan McCain is calling out her former colleagues of The View after their reaction to Donald Trump’s win over Kamala Harris. Before her dramatic exit in 2021, McCain was the major voice for conservatives and Republicans. However, she believes the show didn’t provide a worthy replacement since her exit.
The former co-host took to X to slam the show for not having a single panelist who voted for President-elect Trump in the 2024 elections. “It is actual malfeasance on the part of ABC news that there isn’t one single conservative woman on The View this morning who voted for Trump or simply isn’t repulsed by his supporters to explain to America why he is still so popular,” she wrote. Angry fans agreed with the daughter of late Senator John McCain, urging for the cancelation of the show. “That’s why it’s called “The View;” They only accept the received view,” one fan mocked.
After McCain’s exit, Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former White House staffer under the Trump administration, joined the show. However, during the election episode, she revealed that she cast her vote for Kamala Harris. “For the first time in my life, I voted for a Democrat,” Griffin, a staunch Republican, confessed. She joins the rest of the panelists — Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Sara Haines — who all voted for the vice president.
Meghan McCain Once Predicted Kamala Harris’s Victory
McCain’s rant comes a day after the women of The View expressed their disappointment about the election results. Most of the women shared similar views, with Behar, who kicked the discussion off, saying she “vehemently disagrees” with the results. Hostin, a known critic of Trump, was emotional when she revealed his win made her “profoundly disturbed.” While lamenting Trump’s “unfettered power,” Hostin said:
“I worry not about myself, actually. I worry about the working class and my mother, a retired teacher.”
She further urged that the “convicted felon box” on job application forms should be scrapped. Navarro, who was part of Harris’ team, said Trump’s victory made her “very disappointed and very sad.” As for Goldberg, she complained about people not coming out to vote for Harris. The Sister Act star noted that she won’t still ever mention the president-elect’s name — a vow she made years back.
Despite being a longtime Republican, McCain has been vocally critical of Trump, even revealing in September that she would not be voting for either candidate. However, a month before her confession, she predicted the Vice President’s victory. After Donald Trump declared that he pulled a bigger crowd at his January 2021 rally than MLK’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, McCain lost it. She wrote at the time, “Vice President Harris is going to win. Is Trump trying to lose?“
