With walls warping and ceiling fans wilting, it wasn’t hard for a New York homeowner to realize their cottage might be in serious trouble. If those weren’t already indicators of excessive moisture, the ceiling was also covered with black mold. Needless to say, the place might not be livable to a safe degree for a long time. The cottage owner, TemporaryZebra7566, believes the place might have lost power, leading to a major heating malfunction and pipes bursting back when it was colder during winter.
Posting photos of horrific damage done to the cottage’s interior, TemporaryZebra7566 claims they haven’t been to the place in months and weren’t able to visit “due to forces outside our control” until now. Based on the pictures shown, the moisture damage runs deep, so much so that some Redditors believe the cottage is unsalvageable at this point.
“May as well throw the whole house out at that point,” remarked a Reddit user. “There’s no way it’s worth the money and effort to fix this rather than tearing it down and starting over,” agreed another. “A place so sad even the ceiling fans are depressed,” remarked a third.
Some Redditors Blame Op for Their Carelessness Again Enemies in Trhe Dark
Plenty of others shared a similar sentiment; the mold had essentially claimed the home, so there’s little more for TemporaryZebra7566 than to consider selling or demolishing. On the other hand, several people felt like OP was more at fault than things might seem. Although their primary excuse was that they couldn’t “weren’t able to get up there until now,” some Redditors aren’t buying it.
“You don’t turn the water off when you close it for the winter?” questioned a person. “I turn off the water in my house if I’m going to be gone more than 2 days…” remarked a second. “Leaves water on, leaves for months, comes back, shocked Pikachu,” sarcastically wrote another. Regardless of whether it’s OP’s fault or not, the cost and effort to fix up the place will doubtless be exorbitant.
