A North Carolina driver has been using her voice to spread her political beliefs and apparently some locals don’t like it. After writing an anti-ICE message on their vehicle, she then managed to record several nasty reactions, including wishing bodily harm to her.
On TikTok, user Meshellmybelle11, Michelle, says she won’t “silence” her voice for “racist clowns” in North Carolina. As a way to speak out against racism and ICE arrests happening across the country, she scrawled an anti-ICE message on her vehicle. Then, she drove around and captured what locals had to say about it.
In one instance, a bunch of young adults pulled up to her vehicle in traffic, flipping her off and giving Nazi salutes and shouting “Heil Hitler.” Not to mention berating Michelle with expletives. In another instance, she parked in front of a church and saw multiple pro-ICE protestors. One holds up a sign that reads, “Go 2 Mexico.”
On another occasion, she confronts an elderly man who approaches her and tells her he hopes she is sexually assaulted because of the message displayed on her vehicle. She screams at him, “I don’t know you!” wondering why somebody would say something like this to a stranger.
She tells the man it’s her “freedom of speech” to write that on her vehicle and there’s nothing he can do about it. The entire time, he keeps arguing with her as he walks his dog. Michelle walks in front of him and calls him “disgusting” as he continues yelling retorts back at her.
The response online favored Michelle
Many commenters voiced support for Michelle and her decision to speak out. Others used the video to share their own experiences and frustrations, with several arguing that the incident reflected broader issues of racism they believe still exist in parts of North Carolina.
“Been here 8 yrs and it’s horrible,” one commenter wrote of living in North Carolina. Another commenter brought up Georgia, saying, “Omg I just got bk from Georgia and it’s the same feeling.”
“Why is it always y’all people? It’s too much hate in these mfs heart to be alive,” one viewer wrote. In response to the racists, a user made fun of them, saying “Crackers being crackers.”
To the racists in Michelle’s TikTok video, a commenter said to “ship them all back” to Europe. For an explanation to their behavior, one viewer said “Trump did this.”
Although the encounters captured in the video prompted concern among many viewers, the response online was largely one of support. For many commenters, the footage served as a reminder of the importance of challenging hateful behavior rather than ignoring it.
