Elden Ring is the newest IP of FromSoftware that is mainly known for creating Dark Souls and Bloodborne. This game is one of the most anticipated games of 2022 that will be released in a month. Yasuhiro Kitao, the producer of Elden Ring, said in a video interview at Taipei Game Show 2022 that players can complete the main story of this game in around 30 hours of playtime.
After the successful release of Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, which won Game of the Year in 2017, FromSoftware is coming back with another brand new IP titled Elden Ring. Like every other FromSoftware game, Hidetaka Miyazaki is directing the game, and George R.R. Martin later joined the production for creating the lore of Elden Ring.
This is the first open-world game of FromSoftware, and players had questions about the required playtime of finishing the main story of the Elden Ring. During a Taipei Game Show 2022 video interview, the producer of Elden Ring, Yasuhiro Kitao, answered this question.
This will differ significantly by the player, but in terms of targets set during development, the idea is that the main route should be able to be complete within around 30 hours. The game as a whole is quite massive and contains many dozens more hours’ worth of gameplay, but if we are talking about the main route only, it shouldn’t take much longer than that.
The game will give full freedom on whether players want to only play the main story, thoroughly experience the game, or a mixture of both. “Some players will prefer to try and explore the entire map the first time while others will leave some areas for exploration in second or subsequent cycles,” Kitao said. He also added that “technically, it’s impossible” to complete the game 100% on the first experience.
Elden Ring will be released on February 25, 2022, for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
