Prince Andrew has become the black sheep of The Royal Family. In 2019, his association with the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein created a scandal. The Duke of York tried to save face with his Newsnight interview, but it backfired. The disgraced prince then stepped down from his royal duties and had many of his privileges revoked. His behavior has ignited a feud with King Charles, who is trying to take more away from his brother.
The once close bond between the brothers has strained due to arguments over Andrew’s living arrangements. Charles wants Andrew to move out of The Royal Lodge and into Frogmore Cottage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former home. However, the Duke won’t budge.
According to GB News, royal expert Rupert Bell says Charles is doing everything to make Andrew leave, including cutting his allowance and security detail.
It’s an interesting dynamic between these two but King is trying in a way to force his hand but if Andrew says I can afford to live here, then there’s not much the King can do.
Prince Andrew’s Attitude Could Cost Him More in King Charles Feud
While Andrew is steadfast in his decision not to leave The Royal Lodge, the prince might not have much choice.
If Charles’ plan of cutting off the allowance and security detail works, then Andrew won’t be able to afford to live at the lodge. The embattled Duke has been plagued by hardships ever since his scandal, and things keep worsening.
He feels like he lost everything and if he loses his house, well then he probably feels that even more has been taken away from him.
However, Bell says the prince has nobody to blame but himself for the difficult situation.
”One of the problems that Prince Andrew has is that he is occasionally convinced of his rightness,” Bell revealed. “And he gets himself into hot water with his stubbornness and sometimes his own arrogance has caused him to create these problems.”
The feud between Prince Andrew and King Charles doesn’t appear to have any peaceful resolution in sight. One of the brothers will have to budge in the decision over The Royal Lodge. Which one will it be?
