Prince William seemingly has the weight of the world on his shoulders. As the crown prince he’s been preparing to eventually take the throne and become the King of England his entire life. In addition to being next in line to the throne, he’s also dealing with his father, King Charles, and wife, Kate Middleton, both being diagnosed with cancer. William certainly has a lot on his plate, and one insider reveals that he’s been secretly jealous of his younger brother, Prince Harry. Harry’s life is quite different than that of William’s, and it’s actually a heartbreaking situation.
As William is tethered to the UK to handle his many duties within the Royal Family, he’s also there to be a support system to both Charles and Kate. Meanwhile, Harry has been living in the USA since exiting the Royal Family in 2020.
Prince William’s True Feelings About Prince Harry Are Gut-Wrenching
He and his wife, Meghan Markle, have raised their two children in California. In addition, they’ve focused on passion projects such as creating podcasts, documentaries, and writing memoirs. They also have their Archwell Foundation and more. The freedom that Harry has is allegedly a sore spot for William, per Us Weekly.
“William is a bit envious of [his brother’s] freedoms,” a source tells the outlet.
Royal historian and author Ed Owens also agrees with the claims that Prince William is jealous of Prince Harry’s more carefree lifestyle. Although Harry has been rejected and cast out from the royal family, he has a full life and continues to accomplish big things.
“Harry has done remarkable things,” Owen says, adding that the Invictus Games “now has international presences, and I think that international stage is something both brothers are clearly vying for. That international limelight really sets Harry’s work apart from other members of the royal family.”
Previously, Prince Harry admitted that he and Prince William have always had a bit of a rivalry between them. The younger prince confessed that he believed that tension played into their roles as the heir and the spare. Sadly, the brothers have been mostly estranged for years. Fans are hoping to see them reconcile in the future. However, if William harbors envy towards his brother that may be more difficult to overcome than originally thought.
