Sean Kingston has found himself involved in a criminal investigation. The Jamaican rapper had a run-in with the authorities after they raided his Florida home on Thursday. During the raid, Kingston’s mom was taken into custody on multiple charges. However, the Beautiful Girls artist continues to maintain that there is no trouble in his household despite the incident.
On Thursday morning, the Broward Sheriff’s Office stormed Kingston’s home in Southwest Ranches, Florida. They came moderately armed, with more than 15 men on the premises conducting searches. The team consisted of SWAT police officers, detectives, and deputies. Kingston wasn’t present during the raid, but his mother, Janice Turner, was, and she got whisked away in handcuffs. Per Page Six, the matriarch was arrested on “numerous fraud and theft charges.”
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, an undisclosed investigation that took place in Dania Beach, Florida, earlier in the day led them to Kingston’s home. It is unclear for now if the rapper is directly involved in the investigation. However, a lawyer representing a company that sued Kingston in February was present during the raid.
The 34-year-old was the subject of a lawsuit by Ver Ver Entertainment. They accused Kingston for failing to pay $150,000 for the sale and installation of a 232-inch TV.
Kingston Speaks Out About Florida Home Raid
Hours after the raid, the Fire Burning singer posted a statement on his Instagram Story.

While Kingston was telling his side of the story, the company’s attorney, Dennis Card, opened up to People about the motive behind the raid. “I filed a lawsuit against Sean Kingston. A detective in Broward County read my lawsuit and contacted me, and so we went down and gave, with my client, a recorded statement and an affidavit. So we’ve been waiting on this raid for more than two months now,” he explained.
