You may recall that a few weeks ago, Ludeon Studios announced RimWorld’s 1.3 version alongside its second expansion, Ideology. Needless to say, this was exciting! More content for RimWorld, especially religion/cult-related affairs sounds great for stirring up some mischief or bringing a little faith into your settlements. And of course, 1.3 seemed chocked full of various quality-of-life features and new additions. With so much to be excited about, you’ve probably wondered when you can get your hands on all of these awesome updates. Thankfully, you won’t have to wait long. Both version 1.3 and the Ideology expansion for RimWorld will launch tomorrow, bringing players plenty of new things to toy around with!
For those of you who have been playing on version 1.2 for some time, there are a few things worth noting for RimWorld version 1.3. First of all, if you’re a purist that wishes to remain on the previous version of the game (not sure why but I’m sure there are a few of you out there), you can do so through the Steam betas feature. Simply navigate to Properties on Steam and head to betas, where you can then select version-1.2. As for those of you who are moving over, both save games and mods should remain compatible with version 1.3 if all goes well.
For the remainder of the announcement, the team discussed yet another feature coming to RimWorld’s Ideology expansion: Guaranlen trees! These new trees will spawn the unique dryad creatures, who fight to protect the tree and its dryad queen. After connecting with the Guaranlen tree though, you’ll be able to harness the power of the dryads yourself. This can be done through various “castes” that change the behavior of the dryads. The description for the different castes read as follows:
- Clawer dryads are extremely vicious, with high damage output from their long claws. However, they are also quite fragile.
- Barkskin dryads are chunky and well-armored to soak up incoming damage for your soldiers.
- Carrier dryads are big and gentle and good at tidying up by hauling items for you.
- Woodmakers produce wood for you over time. This is important if you worship trees and hate to chop them down!
- Medicinemaker dryads have large bulbs on their backs that sprout herbal medicine.
- Berrymaker dryads gradually shed piles of ripe berries.
How you choose to focus your mini Druid army is up to you. You can also find more details regarding them and everything else said here by checking out the official Steam news post! Are you excited about RimWorld version 1.3 and the Ideology expansion? Let me know!
