The Science Fiction stupidy has returned, as the first trailer for Lazer Team 2 launched earlier today on Roosterteeth’s YouTube channel. The sequel will see the return of cast members Colton Dunn, Burnie Burns, Michael Jones, and Gavin Free.
In an interview with EW earlier this year, Burns gave a brief synopsis of the sequel’s plot.
“In the second movie it’s, ‘What happened to the Lazer Team since the aliens attacked earth?’” Burns said. “Kind of, ‘Where are they now? And what are we doing about the imminent alien threat that still exists in the galaxy?’”
The teaser revealed that Free’s character, Woody, has been kidnapped by a tentacle-like monster after opening a rift to what appears to be another world. We are also introduced to Maggie Whittington, played by Nichole Bloom. For video game fans, Bloom is best recognized as the voice actor for Emily in the 2015 hit interactive drama survival horror adventure video game Until Dawn.
To save Woody, the team must reunite, working with Wittington in order to save their lost friend. And spoiler alert, they are going to have to go to space to do it.
We can expect to see just as much of Roosterteeth’s brand of comedy in the sequel as we did in the original, as the teaser already shows Zach confusing space travel with time travel.
Lazer Team 2 is produced by Fullscreen films and well known Austin, Texas-based production company Roosterteeth. The sci-fi comedy sequel will premier in theaters November 13, 2017 and on YouTube Red November 22, 2017. Last but not least, Roosterteeth First members will be able to stream the movie at a later date.
