Building materials and Pal Eggs aren’t the only things you must farm in this survival game. At some point, you will need loads of Gold Coins to stock up on rarer commodities. Although you can make efficient Pal-powered sweatshops, you still cannot print money for obvious reasons. Because of that, knowing how to farm Gold Coins will become crucial as you reach Palworld mid-game and beyond. To this day, these three methods are considered the best way to do so by the community.
Make a Mau Ranch
The easiest way to make Gold is by catching a bunch of Mau and letting them graze in a Ranch. One Mau will eventually drop 10 Gold Coins after a while. Best of all, they work day and night since they’re a Dark Type Pal and can be found in early-game dungeons. Simply head over to the dungeon behind Plateau of Beginnings or at the beach near Grassy Behemoth Hill.
Maus are also low-level Pals, we encountered a bunch of them at Level 5-8 when entering a dungeon. Sometimes you get Killamari or Fuddler instead though, so you just need to look for other dungeons when that happens.
Catch Merchants and Sell Farmed Items
Catching Wandering Merchants and adding them to your Base’s occupant is a great way to trade. You don’t have to wait until one is traveling through or going back and forth to Fast Travel points. Once you have your own personal Merchant, it’s time to decide what items to farm for Coins.
Selling Nails was the most effective way to farm Gold in Palworld. But it was nerfed with the February 2024 v0.1.5.1 update along with the Tower Boss catching glitch. Currently, selling Pizzas and Cakes can be considered the best method to farm money in the late-end game period. Meanwhile, dumping Baked Berries and High Quality Cloth from Sybelix on Merchants is the best for early and mid-game thanks to their cheap investment.
Item | Sell Price (x1) |
---|---|
Baked Berries | 10 |
Nails | 20 |
High Quality Cloth | 40 |
Salad | 120 |
Pizza | 290 |
Cake | 1,000 |
Of course, don’t forget to sell Rubies, Diamonds, or any items labeled “Precious” after spelunking a dungeon as they can fetch for a high price.
Hanging Black Marketers or Capturing and Butchering Them
Lastly, farming the elusive Black Marketer merchant NPC can work well for farming Gold Coins in Palworld. The most well-known way to do so is by using Hanging Trap and burning them to death. Once you get the Gold, just go somewhere far, return to the Marketer’s spawn, and repeat the process.
However, if you decide — and are able — to capture them, we suggest you butcher them after the act. Simply catching them only gives you the loot once; using the Butcher Knife on their carcass drops the same loot again.
On Normal, a Black Marketer will drop 10,000-15,000 Gold Coins when defeated, while Hard on default settings give 5,000-7,500. If you set the Dropped Items Multiplier to x3, you farm about 30,000 to 40,000 Gold Coins in Palworld base difficulty.
Locating them can be a bit tough since they can be well hidden. Nevertheless, you should head to these four spots for a fixed Black Marketer spawn:
- In the Abandoned Mineshaft below the Desolate Church Fast Travel point. After Fast Traveling, head west, go down the cliff, then look to your right for the entrance. The entrance’s coordinate is 34, -421.
- In the Secret Mineshaft, from the PIDF Tower Entrance head west, it’s wedged inside the Desiccated Desert canyon. The entrance’s coordinate is at 493, 345.
- Near the northern wall of Duneshelter, outside the town at 351, 371.
- In a small cave west of Eastern Wild Island Fast Travel point or north of Mossanda Lux Alpha Pal. The coordinate is 459, -125.
Speaking of catching, every time a Black Marketer or Pal Merchant dies, they refresh their Pals stock. This way you can also kill them to quickly trade for Pals with the stats you want or need! Ain’t digital murder beautiful?
