A new TikTok influencer’s name is on everyone’s lips, and not for the right reasons. It is a usual phenomenon for social media stars to achieve mainstream fame when their content goes viral. Unfortunately, for 20-year-old Mr Prada, who boasts millions of followers on the platform, that is not the case. Rather than being known for his comedic acts and relatable videos, Prada is now a sensation because he is a person of interest in a murder case.
Who Is Mr Prada & What Does He Do?
Born Terryon Ishmael Thomas in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he first became known for his online persona, “Mr Prada 456.” At just 20 years old, his account, where he posts content about student life, family, and dating adventures, boasts over four million followers. Over the years, he operated under several different handles. However, they were banned after receiving reports of stealing content from other creators. Per The Sun, his presence online peaked in December 2022 when he went viral with a POV skit about being emotionally unavailable. His last TikTok post was on September 29 before his arrest two days later on October 1.
Why Was Mr Prada Arrested?
On Tuesday, Thomas’ life took a turn for the worse. He was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on a warrant from the Baton Rouge Police Department. The influencer got in trouble with the law when he failed to comply with an officer conducting a traffic stop. When asked to step out of the black Lincoln MKZ he drove, Thomas backed the car into the police unit before speeding away. An arrest warrant was issued. They charged him with Aggravated criminal damage to property, Resisting an officer, and Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Authorities later discovered that the vehicle Thomas drove was registered to William Nicholas Abraham, whose body was seen wrapped in a tarp on Sunday, September 29. Abraham, a Baton Rouge priest and therapist, died of blunt force trauma. Police described his death as “very physical, very violent,” with bruises found on his head, shoulders, and neck.
How Is Mr Prada Involved In The Therapist’s Death?
Upon further investigation, police found evidence indicating a violent altercation had occurred after searching Thomas’ home. As reported by NBC, they saw “a significant amount of blood” and “multiple sharp objects and other weapons.” Surveillance footage revealed that Abraham was last seen alive on Saturday, arriving at Thomas’ apartment complex. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, he was wearing the clothes his body was found in. In addition, witnesses reportedly saw the TikTok star dragging a tarp down the stairs of his apartment complex and loading it into Abraham’s vehicle.
Despite the damning evidence, the police are yet to find a connection between the victim and Thomas. Online speculators have suggested a 2015 arrest links both parties after Abraham was accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old client. However, the therapist’s lawyer told NBC News Thomas was not the boy involved in the case.
What Does The Internet Say About Mr Prada’s Murder Case
While awaiting extradition from Dallas, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office announced new charges on Thursday. Thomas has now been charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. “This is an ongoing investigation that will take time to gather further evidence. I hope that this arrest may bring some closure and assurance to friends and family,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said in a news release.
However, fans online don’t support Mr Prada’s arrest as they are holding Abraham’s past abuse allegations against him. One fan wrote, “Idk who Mr Prada is, but I’ll always stand with the killer of a child molester.” A second comment read, “And if i said idgaf if Mr. Prada was the one who killed that pedo therapist?” Others felt empathy for the TikToker, with one user writing, “This Mr Prada s**t is heartbreaking. He literally documented his downward spiral. I hope we know the full story soon.” Mr Prada’s fate has yet to be decided, but it doesn’t look good.
