Shellos is a Water-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation IV in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Shellos evolves into Gastrodon, which is its final evolution. With Gastrodon having improved stats and gaining ground-type, it is worth evolving Shellos to help you counter electric, poison and rock-type moves. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to evolve Shellos in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
How to Evolve Shellos in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
If you do not yet have Shellos, there are several locations you may explore. Two of the most common areas to find Shellos include Valley Windworks and Fuego Ironworks. Shellos also commonly spawns along Route 205, 213 and 218. Although rare, you may also explore Route 221 and 224 for a low chance of encountering Shellos.
Once you have acquired Shellos in wild encounters, you can evolve it into Gastrodon starting at level 30. Gastrodon does not evolve into any other Pokemon. Additionally, like many other Pokemon such as Starly, Buizel, and Bidoof, you do not need additional items or tasks to evolve Shellos. You also do not need to trade Shellos with other players to evolve it. Leveling up Shellos to level 30 will require some extensive grinding. You will need to fight with Shellos in wild Pokemon encounters to gain EXP and level up.

Holding a Lucky Egg will also help your Shellos level up faster. Lucky Eggs add increased EXP after battles, which will help you save time if your Shellos is low level or if you want to evolve it quicker. If you do not have a Lucky Egg, you can find wild Chansey’s, which have a chance of holding either a Lucky Egg or an Oval Stone. You may also search for a Lucky Egg at Acuity Lakefront in the Grand Underground.
