Rune: Ragnarok is an open-world Viking RPG where the player is fighting gods and beasts in order to survive.

The website gives details about the design of the game referring it to an open-world sandbox game which is set in a ‘Norse’ universe. This universe is where gods, beasts, last remaining humans struggle to survive. In the game, it states that during the ‘Ragnarok’ the gods would fall and the ‘Nine Realms’ would be consumed by frost and fire. But, the twist is that the gods still roam the world and from what we can gather from the trailer, it seems like the player gets to fight them at the end of the game.

“Rune: Ragnarok blends intense Action-RPG survival gameplay with savage PvP and PvE battles. As you journey to end Ragnarok, you’ll fight gruesome undead Vikings in brutal melee combat, raid enemy structures, collect resources, and craft the most powerful weapons the realms have ever seen. You’ll explore vast lands, build ships, sail through dangerous waters, and make sacrifices to your god in exchange for blessings to help you end Ragnarok.”

There are five Gods that will be showcased in this game which are Freya, Hel, Loki, Odin, and Thor. The main God that will appear in the game will be Loki who will be voiced by Lee Ernst.  The director of the project commented on the game but did not give much away.

Chris Rhinehart, Rune: Ragnarok Project Director said:

“We’re excited to debut some of the features of Rune: Ragnarok’s gameplay. It’s great to finally show off the fierce beasts and dangerous warriors you will destroy with the weapons of Rune. And, of course, to reveal the true puppetmaster of Ragnarok: Loki.”
