Rocket League first released back in 2015 and it has only grown in popularity since that time. In an interview with Gamespot, game director Scott Rudi told the gaming site not to expect a sequel anytime soon:

“That’s preferable to do; games-as-a-service. The most valuable thing in our game is our fans. A lot of the stuff we do is focused on keeping them with us. Keeping them interested and all hyped up about our game. We want to provide a really good experience [for players] to have fun with for years to come.”

“We want to keep this going. I don’t know what I’d do with Rocket League 2. I’d rather do more to expand the existing Rocket League. It’s doing great, there is a lot ahead of it. So yeah, we have no plans for Rocket League 2.”

Rocket League

This news makes sense as Psyonix just revealed their new Rocket Passย a few weeks ago. Acting much like Fortniteโ€™s โ€œBattle Passโ€, Rocket Pass will allow you to unlock more content as you progress. There will be both a free and premium version of this pass.

You can purchase the premium pass for 10 keys ($9.99) and by doing so youโ€™ll be able to earn new cars, keys, XP boosts, and other content. There will be multiple Rocket Passes throughout the year but you can always use the keys youโ€™ve collected during the previous iteration of the pass to purchase the new season.

The free version will allow you to earn more customization items like decals, toppers, and banners as well as decryptors to unlock certain crates.
