A DoorDasher in Connecticut shared some concerning text messages from a customer who had been allegedly threatening them over the color of their skin. The driver, who goes by Successful_Tourist16 on Reddit, posted screenshots to r/DoorDashDrivers of the customer texting warnings such as “I don’t allow your type on my property” and “Don’t come to my property blackie.” Unfortunately for her, she and her husband were reportedly arrested.

This is crazy

For clarity, the woman wasn’t arrested over her threats and blatant racism, though those two things are obviously unacceptable. According to Successful_Tourist16, the customer and her husband had ordered 10 packs of sauces and a cup of jalapeños before spamming the driver to stop picking up the order. She allegedly impersonated DoorDash support in a phone call before moving on to threats via text.

Reddit Expressed Sympathy for the Connecticut DoorDasher and Condemned the Customer

Hundreds of Redditors couldn’t believe this could ever have happened. “That’s crazy I hope you reported them,” remarked a commenter, to which OP responded, confirming that they most certainly did. “This should be an actual crime, if it isn’t already. The stuff you guys have to deal with is nuts.  Sorry, people are such idiots,” apologetically wrote another user.

“People have way too much time on their hands,” chimed in a third, referring to the customer. “How evil. I’m so sorry you deal with racism just trying to work,” sighed a fourth. Others questioned whether the address that the woman was using for her DoorDash order was even real.

Apparently, it was, as Successful_Tourist16 explained that the scammer couple was using their real address and their daughter’s name as their account username. After reporting the situation both to DoorDash and the police, OP recalled,“ I got a call, and the lady and her husband were arrested with the help of DoorDash. ” The woman and her husband admitted to the scam during police questioning.

Situations with scammers can go much worse than things went for OP. However, as the Connecticut DoorDasher exclaimed, “Sometimes the good guys win!!!” On top of that, they claim they were still paid for the order as well.
