Since 2017, Apple and telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm have been engaged in a dispute regarding Apple’s use of Qualcomm technology and the amount of money the chipmaker charged them for use of its components and patents. As a result, it looks like they will no longer be using Qualcomm’s competition, Intell, for all of its iPhone modems in 2018.

According to CNET, an earnings call that took place Wednesday afternoon revealed the tech company’s intentions to boycott Qualcomm’s technology.

“Apple intends to solely use our competitor’s modems rather than our modems in its next iPhone release,” said Qualcomm Chief Financial Officer George Davis.

Davis didn’t mention Intel by name in the call, but it should be noted that Intel is the only other company that supplies that component for Apple’s smartphones.

Earlier this month KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the company would be getting rid of Qualacomm due to the ongoing legal dispute. The two companies have been working together ever since Apple rolled out 4G, though they also used Intel modems as well. Qualcomm has stated that they are the superior brand though, revealing the speed tests for its Snapdragon 845 chip that prove it is the faster product.

The dispute began after Apple sued Qualcomm in 2017 for overcharging for LTE modems, prompting the company to countersue them due to royalties.
