The final season of Game of Thrones is nearing, and fans are chomping at the bit for any new information about what to expect from the sure-to-be monumental finale of the beloved series. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight last Thursday, actor Peter Dinklage spoke on what he believes to be a fitting end for his fan-favorite character, Tyrion Lannister.

“It ends beautifully for my character, whether it be tragic or not,” said Dinklage. He added words of praise for Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, saying, “There are no better writers in television than Dan Weiss and David Benioff. They ended it brilliantly. Better than I could have imagined and you people are in for it.”

Although we don’t have any specifics yet on what Tyrion’s fate might be, a recent interview with special effects producer Steve Kullback may have seen a slip-up in regard to his ending.

*No confirmed spoilers ahead, but beware if you want to go into the show’s final season completely clean.*

“We can’t tell you in what episode Tyrion dies,” Kullback said, according to Winter is Coming. “Or doesn’t,” he added quickly. It’s questionable if this was a joke or a real accident, but no comment was given from production on the matter.

Some of the other actors from the show haven’t been as optimistic about Game of Thrones’ ending. In an interview with MTV, Jon Snow actor Kit Harington stated, “I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone. My favorite TV shows are Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Wire, and they all ended in a way that… It’s never going to satisfy you.”

The final season of Game of Thrones is expected to air in early 2019.
